Ask a visitor about summer on 30A East and they will describe one Saturday: America's 250th birthday, fireworks over Seaside, the biggest crowd of the year. Ask someone who lives here, and the answer sounds different. The season you actually enjoy starts the Sunday after, when the shuttles stop running and the calendar settles into a rhythm you can plan a week around.

That rhythm is what this guide is for. Every weeknight from now through early August has an anchor within a short bike ride of Alys Beach, Rosemary Beach, Seacrest, Inlet Beach, or Watersound. Here is how to use them.

Sunday: The Alys Beach Amphitheatre Concert Series

The centerpiece of a 30A East summer is the concert series on the Amphitheatre green, running 7 to 9 PM through August 2. Shows are free, food and drink come from Henry's Pizza Truck, and the lineup for the rest of the season is set:

Bring a blanket or a low chair. If you have walked the Amphitheatre a hundred times, try the north edge closer to the pizza truck line and the fountains, where the sound reaches without the front-lawn density. Families with strollers do better on the 30A side of the green, where you can slip out early without cutting through the crowd.

A note for the last two dates: August 2 closes the series, and the following Sunday will feel noticeably quiet. If you have out-of-town guests you have been meaning to impress with a free concert and a walk through the white walls afterward, that August 2 date is your deadline.

Monday: Rosemary Beach's Summer Concert Series

Monday nights belong to St. Augustine Green in Rosemary Beach, where the Summer Concert Series has been running through the season. The lineup rotates weekly, which is the point. If you missed a week, the next one is a different band.

Bring chairs and blankets, and treat it like a neighborhood potluck without the potluck. The green is small enough that you will see people you know, and short enough on parking that biking in from Seacrest or Inlet Beach is the sane choice. The concerts are one of the few things on 30A East where the setup rewards the people who live nearby and inconveniences the drop-in crowd — a rare thing in July.

Tuesday morning: Seaside Farmers Market

The one weekday commitment worth building around is the Seaside Farmers Market, 9 AM to 1 PM every Tuesday in the heart of Seaside. This is the working market, not the tourist prop version: local farmers, artisans, produce that was pulled that morning.

If your household eats dinner at home two nights a week, this is the shop that makes those two dinners better. Get there before 10:30 if you want the best of the produce tables. After 11, it becomes a stroll rather than a shop, which is also fine.

The market runs year round in various forms, but the summer version is when the tomato and stone fruit selection is worth the drive from Watersound or Inlet Beach specifically.

Thursday: Watersound Town Center

The most under-used weeknight on 30A East is Thursday at Watersound Town Center. Free concerts, family programming, and theater performances rotate under the covered pavilion, with a different featured act each week. The parking is easy, the pavilion is shaded, and the crowd skews local.

If you are new to the area and still figuring out where locals go when they want a normal Thursday, this is the answer. It is the closest thing 30A East has to a neighborhood town square that operates on a schedule.

Where to eat, matched to the night

The dining scene here is dense enough that you can pair every weeknight anchor with a walkable dinner. A rough map:

Before Sunday's Alys concert. O-Ku sits directly across from the Amphitheatre, which is either convenient or a reason to book two weeks out on a concert night. Sushi and sashimi in the Alys architecture, an easy walk to your blanket. If O-Ku is booked, walk two blocks to Citizens for oysters and a burger before the music starts.

After Monday's Rosemary concert. Barrett Square is the natural landing zone. Gallion's runs an adults-only dinner from 5 PM at 82 South Barrett Square, and their bar opens at 11 AM if you want to make an afternoon of it. Havana Beach at The Pearl on Main Street runs breakfast through dinner daily and adds weekend brunch, which is your Sunday move separately. Edward's Fine Food & Wine on Main Street opens at 5 PM and is the quieter room of the three, better for a two-top than a group.

Tuesday, farmers market day. Cook at home. That was the point of the market. If you want to be out, Lola Coastal Italian is dinner only Monday through Saturday, no reservations, and reliably has room on a Tuesday when Rosemary Beach is between weekend rushes.

Thursday, before or after Watersound. Pescado Seafood Grill and Rooftop Bar in Rosemary Beach is the closest fine-dining option with a rooftop view, and their Sunday brunch is worth planning around separately. Weekday dinner reservations tend to open up in the 5:30 slot, before the 7 PM crowd fills in.

The pattern to notice: the restaurants that are hardest to get into on a Saturday are usually reachable on a weeknight in July when a specific event is not pulling the crowd toward it. Use your weeknight anchors, and the reservations sort themselves out.

The parking thing, honestly

Fourth of July had free shuttles running from the Grayton Beach lot on Highway 283 starting at 6 AM. Those are gone. Sunday concerts at Alys and Monday concerts at Rosemary do not have a shuttle system. Park at your own house and bike, or park at Watersound and walk. If you drive to Alys on a Sunday and pull in at 6:45, you will be circling. Pull in at 5:45 with a picnic and a book, and you have a parking spot and forty minutes of quiet green before the crowd arrives.

The Timpoochee Trail is the honest answer to almost every 30A East parking question this summer. If you have a bike and have not been using it on concert nights, that is the change worth making before August 2.

What to save for after Labor Day

A few things worth flagging for the calendar past this guide's window. The Alys Beach concert series ends August 2 and does not return until next summer. Digital Graffiti, the projection art festival that turns Alys Beach's white walls into a canvas, ran its 19th edition in May and comes back next spring. The fall event calendar on 30A East picks up again with the Harvest Wine and Food Festival and the Rosemary Beach Farmers Market on Sundays, which quietly becomes the better market once the Seaside crowds thin.

For the next four weeks, though, the calendar is Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Thursday. Bike where you can. Book Gallion's a week out. Get to the farmers market before 10:30. That is the summer.
